Andrographis Cold & Immune Defence

Category: Allergy

Andrographis paniculata is one of the best-evidenced herbal medicines for acute upper respiratory illness. Andrographolide inhibits NF-kB, the master regulator of inflammatory cytokine production, making it effective for both infectious and allergic upper respiratory conditions.

How to prepare

1. For acute allergy or respiratory symptoms: take 400mg standardised extract (30% andrographolides) three times daily with meals. 2. For prevention during high-pollen season: 200–400mg once or twice daily. 3. Take with food — andrographolide is intensely bitter and can cause nausea on an empty stomach. 4. Allow 3–5 days for peak anti-inflammatory effect in acute use. 5. Do not use continuously for more than 8–12 weeks without a break. 6. If on blood thinners or immunosuppressants, do not use without medical clearance.
