Rhodiola, the hardy root from cold northern mountains. Cordyceps, the fungus with a strange origin story and a reputation among endurance athletes. Both come wrapped in the word "energy", and both imply a lift that is clean, sustained and free of the caffeine crash.
Here is the problem with that pitch. Neither has earned the word energiser, and they do not even chase the same kind of tiredness. Rhodiola has been studied mostly for the mental, worn-down fatigue that comes with stress. Cordyceps has been studied mostly for physical exercise capacity in trained bodies. Marketing blurs the two into a single promise of "more energy", but the evidence keeps them apart, and once you separate them the picture gets a lot more honest.
That honesty is the point of this comparison. You will not find a winner crowned here, because on the evidence neither deserves a coronation.
